Travel insurance is necessary. As Nepal is a third world country, the level of health care is very different from ours. Be sure to take out travel insurance for the full length of your stay to cover medical expenses. You will also need insurance for luggage and personal effects such as cameras, watches, jewellery and other personal effects.
