Namaste!

For 4 weeks I have been with students and teachers of VSN School now and I like to give you my experience, as a volunteer worker, coming from Switzerland teaching health and health care. In fact, it started all very nice for me, while my first 4 days I participated with 8 groups of students on an excursion.
I was happy to be in the bus, who took us to Lumbini and further, with a group of male students age 16 and 4 teachers. The group was eager to learn on several objects, culture, nature and to see a train on the Indian boarder, the first time in their life!
Discussions between students and teachers have been very much supporting their educational Excursion; the atmosphere was pleasant, happy and joyful, for all of us.
Evening time each group could give their impression of the day= the was they have enjoyed and experienced new items, critics also have been given to the teachers and principal. So every participant learned something from the other=discipline- joy and even mistakes- have been discussed. I think that this way of education is the way you make your pupils aware of their responsibility, responsibility toward themselves, towards their parents, towards the teacher, towards nature (protecting) and environment (social).
Pupils are aware of their unique chance to be capable to visit and learn VSN School  - their being proud stimulates them to study and work hard.
When people realize the chance given to them to get education they all react thankfully – taking that chance to develop wisdom – knowledge. In "rich" countries, where education is compulsory and free until 16 years, students are not aware of this. Very often they waste their time, don't feel inspired by teachings fail examines  because of laziness.
I see this very clearly and am thankful to be at this school with this group of teachers and the principal her in Nepal -  Thimi; because I do realize that lots of my experience will be at help to those in the "rich" countries.
I will continue my work and my moments of learning from all of you – for another 4 weeks.

Dhanyabad.
