Visa Information

All volunteers require a visa to enter Nepal. You either obtain a 60-day tourist visa at Kathmandu airport or obtain a visa from your home country. To obtain a visa at the airport, you will need a passport photo plus US$ 30 in cash. If you are obtaining your visa in your own country, you should begin the paperwork immediately. Please be sure your passport is up-to-date and valid for 6 months beyond your stay in Nepal and has at least three to four blank pages.

Citizens of most countries will require a tourist visa for entry to Nepal. You must arrange for your own tourist visa. Please ask your local Nepali Consulate or travel agent for entry information.

Within Nepal If you wish to stay in Nepal for longer than 60 days, you can extend your visa for 30 days at a time and for a maximum of 180 days per calendar year. The cost of a visa extension is approximately US$ 50 per 30 days payable on application with a passport photo. The tourist office in Kathmandu will be able to provide you this extension and it is a same day service.
