About Vinayak Shiksha Niketan English Secondary School

Vinayak Shiksha Niketan co-education school established in 1989, registered with the District education office Bhaktapur, ministry of education HMG Nepal, aims to combine the best of their traditions and cultures with the best of current educational practices. This School is a charitable and a non-Profit making foundation. Funding comes from fees and endowments, not from government. The school is genuinely independent and free to decide what is in the best educational interests of the pupils.
Objectives
The school has made its main objectives as follows:
To educate the local children at affordable fees and offers scholarship
      and sponsorship.
To provide quality education with practical knowledge.
To teach the students traditional singing, art, music and dance as the
     school initiates for culture preservation.

Volunteer Teaching

The school promotes and encourages students to maintain traditional Newari culture and customs through singing, music and dance. Students and teachers perform traditional dances to a drum accompaniment at many local functions.
Other active groups within the school are a scouting movement for girls and boys, and an Eco Club which is involved in school and community activities such as conducting a rubbish collection project in nearby streets. The club is currently monitoring the progress of some goats donated to needy families by the Nepal Australian Friendship Association (Qld) Inc in Brisbane, Australia. This project initially provides to a needy family a pair of goats, which are then used for milking and a breeding program, and a small portion of any subsequent profits is returned

to the school. School students actively participate in community functions, and the school has been honored for its participation and support of students with disabilities.
Volunteers at the school will be encouraged to work with the English teachers in delivering conversational classes through stories, activities and songs. The students love learning about other countries and customs, and love seeing pictures from overseas, so your first classes could be centred on that. You may be asked to assist the teachers in various ways, and most likely be requested to record some speaking texts to use in conversational tests.
