Introduction

Experience Nepal was founded out of a need to help poorer communities in the Katmandu Valley. Volunteers will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of educational and community aid programs. This will give you a chance to make an important contribution to the people of Nepal. Through this you will gain an in-depth experience of the country and its culture which will stay with you for the rest of your life.

The Placement

In a typical placement, volunteers stay in a family where they get Nepali food twice a day (around 9 o’clock in the morning and 7 o’clock in the evening). The food consists mainly of rice, lentil soup, vegetable/meat curry and pickle. Tea is served early in the morning and in the afternoon. Volunteers will typically eat with family. They will also participate in weddings and festivals. Volunteers can travel to Bhaktapur, Patan or Kathmandu for shopping or to other areas on longer vacation.
